We welcome you and your little one to St. Raymond Catholic Church for the Sacrament of Baptism. Baptism is the doorway to the Catholic faith, the beginning of God’s grace in the Holy Spirit and the necessary first step on the way to salvation in Christ.

What is the first step in scheduling a Baptism?

Call or come to the Parish Office any weekday during regular office hours to schedule a Baptism and pre-requisite baptismal class.

Download the Baptism Request form or pick one up from the Parish Office. Return the form as soon as possible to the Parish Office along with a copy of the child's birth certificate.

When do we celebrate Baptism at St. Raymond?

At St. Raymond, we celebrate the sacrament of Baptism for children on the first weekend of the month as follows:

Saturday 12:00 noon, during our baptism weekend

Sunday 12:30pm, within the Spanish Mass

The schedule may deviate slightly during special periods during the liturgical year such as Lent, so it’s recommended that you contact the Parish office to confirm dates and times. As a general rule, we do not schedule private baptisms.

What if my child is in middle school or high school?

If you have a child/teen who is between 6th-12th grade, we offer special classes through our Youth Ministry department. Teen baptism classes are offered quarterly. Please contact Susy Cano in the Faith Formation department for more information at scano@srcdublin.org or by calling 925-574-7414.

I'm an adult who has not been baptized

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is for adults who are either unbaptized, baptized in a Christian faith, or baptized in the Catholic Faith and need to receive the Sacraments of Eucharist and/or Confirmation.

What are the guidelines for godparents?

You are only required to have one godparent for your child's baptism. However, it is customary to have two (one female and one male). Godparents must be practicing Catholics. If single, please provide the confirmation certificate. If married, please provide the marriage certificate (must be in the Catholic Church).

If you select godparents who live a great distance away, they do not have to be present at the baptism. You may have a proxy fill in for the official godparents.

How many people can we invite to the Baptism ceremony?

There is no limit to the number of people you may invite to your child's baptism. You are encouraged to invite relatives and friends to share your joy and welcome your child into our Christian community.

How about photography?

There will be ample opportunities for pictures after the service. During the service, we ask your help in keeping with the atmosphere of prayer by refraining from photography while the ceremony is in progress.

About fees and donations

FEES FOR BAPTISM, we ask that you make a $100 donation to the Church to help cover expenses associated with Baptisms here at St. Raymond. Checks are made payable to St. Raymond.

A separate donation for the Priest performing the Baptism is encouraged and customary, ranging from $50 - $200. If making a donation to the presiding priest, please write a check made payable to them.
