Mission Co-op Visit This Weekend

Each year all parishes in the diocese participate in the Missionary Co-Op Appeal. Missionaries visit each parish from many different Catholic missions around the world. They share the story of their mission work and a second collection is taken up that weekend. Monies from all the parishes are pooled together and then distributed equally to each mission participating in the Co-Op.

This weekend St. Raymond will host Fr. Thang Hoang from the Missionaries of the Divine Word. Fr. Thang will speak about the many ministries of his religious community. The Missionaries of the Divine Word are an international religious community of missionary priests and brothers serving in 70 countries helping to build chapels, celebrate the sacraments, and spread the Word of God in the remote mission communities.  Over 6,000 active missionaries travel to the far corners of the world building hospitals to care for the sick, educating the poor, teaching the hungry to farm, and providing life’s necessities like drinkable water, food, and shelter. They help people neglected and forgotten by society to build a better future and foster vibrant Catholic communities of service and faith around the world.

Please be generous in this weekend’s second collection to help support the missionary work of the Divine Word Missionaries.  Their missionaries serve in some of the most difficult areas of the world.

Thank you, and God bless you.

In Christ,

Fr. Lawrence
