Any successful, faithful and fruitful initiative requires data gathering. This is particularly true with what we are currently experiencing as Church here at Saint Raymond’s and at the Diocese of Oakland – as we concurrently aspire to grow by launching series of steps to hear from you – in our efforts to continue collaboration and consultation.

Over the last three months, a good number of ministry leaders and key volunteers have been involved with our 3-Year Strategic Planning. The session last Saturday was very insightful, and we are optimistic and excited about the completion of the process very soon. There is still work to be done, and we will continue to seek your input and feedback not only during this phase of guttering data, but most importantly, as we roll out the plans we have all together put together!

Just last week, the Disciples Maker Index (DMI) survey was released to all the parishes within the Diocese of Oakland, which allows us here at Saint Raymond’s to reflect on our own spiritual growth and discipleship and identify the ways in which the parish and the Diocese can effectively supports that growth. The web-based survey will be accessible online and in paper form from October 14 to November 22. I encourage you to take part in this very important endeavor that will assist our Bishop to better take care of the needs of the people entrusted to his charge as the shepherd of our Diocese.

It is providential that in our desire to engage and be engaged, we are asked important questions through the parish survey and consultation, and the DMI survey from the Diocese. Imagine, though, Jesus asking you today one fundamental question – the same question asked from the blind man in the Gospel passage this weekend: “what do you want me to do for you?”
