Other than being a month dedicated to the Blessed Mother, May is ordination season! I turned 5 years old as a priest last May 13; while Father Lawrence and Father Bob marked their 21st year yesterday, May 20. And tomorrow at 8AM, our seminarian-intern about 3 years ago will be ordained to the priesthood, and it is such a blessing to have would-be Father Houng Dinh celebrating his First Mass here at Saint Raymond’s on that same day, at 5PM! As seats indoors are capped at 150, please plan to arrive early or bring your chairs if directed to seat at the plaza once capacity is reached. Immediately following Mass, he will be at the grotto side of the church to extend his first priestly blessings.
On Sunday, we continue our celebration of our 60th parish founding Anniversary with music and reflections at 4:30PM. This event, including the 6PM Youth and Family Mass is now moved indoors, in anticipation of high winds this weekend.
Finally, please note on your calendar the upcoming “Couples for Cana” marriage retreat next weekend, May 28-30. It is open to all newly engaged couples; and husbands and wives of all ages and stages. This is highly recommended, too, for those celebrating milestones in their sacramental married lives!
The Holy Spirit is indeed always at work – in the vocation of men called to the priesthood, in the talents of musicians and singers, in the lives of married couples – in everyone! We are invited to speak the language it inspires us to – be in service, music, or love.
Sono semipro grate,
Father Erick
