Our Generosity Increases Our Capacity to Receive God’s Generosity

“For the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you.” The more generously we give of ourselves, the greater the opening we give to God to be generous with us. Our generosity increases our capacity to receive God’s generosity.

Jesus used several images to express this profound truth of human experience. One powerful imagery is the seed which when it falls to the ground and dies bears much fruit – declaring that our efforts to die to ourselves in the service of others will ultimately leave us more alive. Such service of others often takes the simple form of a refusal to judge, an unwillingness to condemn and a readiness to forgive.

As people made in the image of God, we are to be as compassionate and as pardoning as God Himself. Jesus of course was the perfect image of God, and He gave expression to God’s compassionate and pardoning love in the most complete way possible. The Gospel this weekend ssures us that when, like Jesus, we are God-like in our dealings with other, then we open ourselves to receive an abundance from HIM – a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing!

We are on our final leg of the SOWER Weekends; and now highlight the Religious Education ministries which covers faith formation, youth ministry, adult education and sacramental preparations! We are indeed BLESSED that we have dynamic and passionate teams of catechists and volunteers sharing their gifts to enable continued growth in faith amongst those they encounter; while learning in the process. Stop by the plaza this weekend and learn how you can support our ministries and our Church!

Sempre grato,
Father Erick
