The month of May is a special month indeed for many reasons!

First, it is the month of the Blessed Mother, that is why on May 1, we have the May Crowning led by our schools students. May 13 is particularly significant to the Universal Church as it is the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima; but also special to me because that day, I celebrate my 8th year as a priest!

Second, May is the month dedicated for our mothers! We thank all mothers and women of goodwill for their love and sacrifice, and their continued support and guidance to us. We call the Church a mother precisely for this reason … the Church serves as our protection and our refuge, our pillar of strength and fountain of love.

Third, we celebrate this month of May milestones for our students … 1st Communion, Confirmation and Graduation! We celebrate their achievements in their faith and life journeys, and we commit to always stand by them. We are all so looking forward to bear witness to the many milestones and achievements yet to happen in their lives!

Lastly, this month is the beginning of the pilgrimage to Indianapolis, as part of the National Eucharist Revival initiatives of the USCCB. I hope to participate in the pilgrimage beginning on May 19, Pentecost Sunday. Thank you for your fervent prayers and show of support. I can truly feel the Saint Raymond’s community rallying behind me and those who will be participating in this historic spiritual endeavor! Rest assured of my constant prayers for all of you, too!

As one BLESSED community, let us continue to empower each other in our common desire to encounter Jesus in the Sacraments and in each other; and always invoking both the intercession of Our Lady to cover us with her mantle, and Saint Joseph the Worker whose feast we also celebrate on May 1!
With you in prayers and thanksgiving,
Father Erick
