This weekend we are asked to do a lot. “Go”, “See”, “Speak”, “Wait”, “Take”, “Come”.

It reminds me of the Book of Ecclesiastes, Chapter 3, verses 1–8:

“There is an appointed time for everything.

A time to give birth, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to uproot the plant.

A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to tear down, and a time to build.

A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance.

A time to scatter stones, and a time to gather them; a time to embrace, and a time to be far from embraces.

A time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away. A time to rend, and a time to sew;

a time to be silent, and a time to speak. A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.”

Though the Book of Ecclesiastes mentions these times, the actions from the readings today feel more urgent. They must be done right in that moment; they cannot be taken for granted. It is truly an opportunity.

Jesus mentions one thing to not do – be afraid. He is with us always, but we must be willing to “Go”, “See”, “Speak”, “Wait”, “Take”, “Come”. Have Faith!

Faith is our foundation and it does take courage to step out of the boat in to uneasy waters. Think about all of those time the Lord has asked, told, commanded us to do something, He didn’t ask us because it was easy, He urged because it was the right thing to do. God is the Great I AM! And if faith is all He asks for from us to do His will, then truly walking on water will be like a walk in the park!

So Go ahead Lord, We are waiting to hear You, see you, speak about you. Then we take up our cross and follow Your command and come and follow You!
