Have you ever been invited somewhere really important, but you were too busy, tired, distracted, or just not interested enough to go?
In today’s Gospel, Jesus tells us about a king who prepares a huge wedding feast and invites people to come. But many of them make excuses. They have other things going on, and they choose those things instead of accepting the invitation. Then there’s a guest who shows up to the party but refuses to wear the wedding clothes provided, so he gets kicked out.
The story is really about us.
God is constantly inviting us into something deeper with Him. He invites us to know Him, to trust Him, to spend time with Him, and to experience His love. But sometimes we get distracted. Work, school, friends, social media, stress, and everything else can become more important than making time for God.
The good news is that God keeps inviting us. He doesn’t give up on us when we ignore Him or get distracted. His invitation is always there.
The invite to follow God is 100% free, but it requires you to change. You can’t say you want to follow Jesus but then keep holding onto bad habits. God accepts you exactly as you are, but He loves you too much to let you stay that way.
So take a moment to think:
What is distracting me from God right now?
Where might God be inviting me to come closer to Him?
God has already prepared a place for you. The question is: Will you accept the invitation?
Prayer:
Jesus, help me recognize the ways You are inviting me closer to You. When I get distracted or put other things first, remind me that nothing is more important than Your love. Give me the courage to say yes to You—not just today, but every day. Amen.
