Bishop’s Vocations Dinner Kudos, and more

Recently some of us joined a group of over 500 people from throughout the diocese for the Annual Bishop’s Vocations Dinner. This dinner is a fund raiser to help support the education of our future priests. Sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, eac

h parish is encouraged to invite altar servers to be recognized for their outstanding service and receive a certificate from Bishop Michael Barber, S.J.

From St. Raymond Parish Darian Stubbs was honored. Here is a photo of him with his mother and a number of our other parishioners and guests. Congratulations, Darian!

Other kudos I want to share belong to Formed, our FREE online Catholic resource for movies, books, audio, and programs. I’d like to share more from St. Raymond parishioner Dwina Khow, about her appreciation of Formed. Please note: to sign up for Formed, visit our parish website. Again, it’s FREE to you!

We had the chance to watch Formed kids movies together as a family. Some of those are “The True Story of Fatima – The Day When the Sun Danced”, “Ben Hur – A Race to Glory” and “Bernadette – Princess of Lourdes”. We had a light discussion afterward; and now my kids can’t wait to finish watching all the children’s movies. It really gives me a tool to discuss among the family our faith in our daily lives.

It is truly a blessing for our parish to have Formed.org subscription for free this year, I’d like to encourage others to utilize it as much as possible, whether it is for individual spiritual growth, or together as a couple, or with our kids as a family, or even in a small Christian group in a Bible study setting. The amazing part is that everything is there for running a Bible study: the video presentations, downloadable participant materials as well as leader materials. All offerings are great topics on our Catholic Faith from all level of the spiritual journey. For those who are just starting the “Catholicism” series and the “Symbolon” series are very engaging. For those who have a yearning to dive even deeper in the richness of Catholic heritage, the “Lectio” series focuses on the Eucharist, Evangelization, the life of St. Peter, and on Prayer. For those looking to experience God’s personal touch and intimate encounter in a retreat setting, “33 Days to Morning Glory”, “Consoling the Heart of Jesus”, and “Wisdom & Works of Mercy” by Fr. Michael Gaitley offer a deeper union with Jesus through Mary.

I’m enjoying browsing the numerous programs offered by Formed.org. I’m looking forward to gathering with a few families to meet on a regular basis to explore and experience together the beauty of our Catholic faith through Formed.org, which will help us grow together as a community. I can’t say it enough how grateful I and my family to be part of St. Raymond and especially for the gift of the Formed.org free subscription.

As they say, “There’s one satisfied customer!” Find out what Dwina’s so excited about and go online to Formed today. Experience the rich content, and let me know about it. God bless you, and know of my prayers for you as we continue our Lenten journey together.

In Christ,

Fr. Lawrence
