Dear St. Raymond Parish,
As we celebrate Corpus Christi, the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, I am grateful for the opportunity to introduce myself. The Eucharist has been central to my vocation journey, and it was through encountering Christ in the Mass that I first began to hear His call.
My name is Dorian Coronado, and I am a seminarian for the Diocese of Oakland. I am currently studying at the Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus, Ohio, where I am entering my second year of Philosophy while pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy. I will be serving here at St. Raymond Parish during the months of June and July.
I was born and raised in Fremont, California, and come from a Mexican-American family. Before entering seminary last August, I spent time discerning God’s will through various experiences, including an internship with the Hayward Fire Department, working as a program leader in a care home, and serving as an office assistant at my home parish.
My vocation began to take shape during my Confirmation preparation. As I grew in my relationship with Christ through regular Mass attendance and prayer, I discovered that nothing else could satisfy the deepest desires of my heart. A quote from St. Augustine has accompanied me throughout this journey: “Our hearts are restless until they rest in the Lord.” In saying yes to God’s call, I have found a profound peace and joy.
I have a special devotion to our Blessed Mother, St. John Bosco, St. Anthony of Padua, Pope St. John Paul II, and St. Matthias the Apostle. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, playing sports, and cooking. I am also fluent in both English and Spanish.
I have already been inspired by the vibrant, diverse, and faith-filled community of St. Raymond. I look forward to getting to know you and serving alongside you this summer. If your ministry is meeting during my time here, please feel free to invite me—I would be happy to attend, learn more about your work, and assist in any way I can.
Please keep me and my brother seminarians in your prayers, and continue praying for vocations. As we celebrate Corpus Christi, may our love for Jesus in the Eucharist deepen and inspire us to follow Him more closely each day.
In Christ,
Dorian Coronado
