Dear Good people of Saint Raymond!

This past week, the Church remembered several great Saints. On Tuesday, we remembered Saints Martha, Mary, and Lazarus. On Wednesday, we remembered Saint Peter Chrysologus. On Thursday, we remembered Saint Ignatius of Loyola, and on Friday, Saint Alphonsus Liguori.  We often focus on the Saints in November when we celebrate All Saints Day, but I think it is important for us to remember the Saints throughout the year. The Saints are an important part of our Catholic heritage. Growing up, I learned a lot about Saint Anthony of Padua as he was the patron of my home parish in Oakland. As a teacher, I learned about the Saints for whom the school was named.  Here are a few names: Saint Cyril, Saint Louis Bertrand, Saint Bernard, Saint Leo the Great, and Saint Leander.

We can learn many good things about the Saints. We can learn about the holy lives they led and we can follow their example. I ask you to consider learning more about the Saints. There are many books available. I look forward to hearing about one of your favorite Saints.

Love,

Father Mark Ruiz
