This week we are focusing on the Double Commandment of Love:
“You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments.” In essence, this is the ten commandments in short hand, but it is not lesser.
Because loving the one true God with everything is having Faith, Trust, Hope, Respect, Reverence, covers the first 3 commandments. If we love in full devotion to God, we will not be swayed.
Knowing that all of us is the many parts of the same body of our Lord, meaning loving the Lord is loving your neighbor as yourself. To be complete in this commandment, we will always honor family, not harm, respecting all people and things.
God is good! We love Him and His children as one body of Christ!
This prayer was offered at a recent youth praise and worship, I hope that with this gospel, you can find your connection to His commands:
O Father in Heaven, You sent us Your only Son to be our Way, our Truth, and our Life. For if we know Your Son, Jesus, we will know You. Please, in Your time, through the Holy Spirit, gift us with the breath of life, as we commit our senses to You, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit:
We use the sign of the cross on our forehead, for Christ to strengthen us with His Love, to learn & follow Him.
We sign our ears, that we may hear His Voice.
We sign our eyes, that we may see Your Glory.
We sign our lips, that we may respond to Your Word.
We sign our Heart, that You may live there by faith.
We sign our shoulders, that we may carry the gentle yoke of Your Son, Jesus.
We sign our hands, that You may be known in the work we do.
We sign our feet, that we may walk in Your way.
“Lord, make us an instrument of Your Peace.” – Amen
